He trained at the 'Institute' in South Korea, the place where All shadowhunters undergo the ritual which performed on Shadowhunter children to protect them from demonic forces or influence.

Max started his mundane life at twelve, living as the new boy in Gangnam, the affluent neighborhood in Seoul, South Korea. He lived with one of the Institute's staff family, The Choi, and disguise himself as one of the family member, Choi Tae Joon, and used Alarick Choi as his Western name and Max for his nickname amongs the youngster.

Max attended the mundane school, Dankook Middle School, which located in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and continued to Kyunggi High School close to his home in Gangnam, Seoul.

Once he started his college life as a mundane, he lived separately from the Choi Family and enrolled to Konkuk University in Gwangjin.
Living as a mundane didn't make him free from the responsibility as a Shadowhunter. The number of the duties piled up along with the life task as a mundane were both on his shoulder.

With the knowledge of Business Administration from Konkuk University, he built a Cafe and Bar named The Pollen once he graduated in Gangnam's snobbiest neighborhood, Apgujeong. He was the Cafe owner and the only one barista in The Pollen as the coffee he made contains the magic pollen that will affect the mundanes' emotions as he could detect mundanes' unseen emotions.

Every Friday and Saturday night, The club just right below the Cafe would be opened for public as the disguise of the shadowhunters' playground. The others shadowhunters could freely hangout there, mixed with some mundies (how the other shadowhunters usually called them) who came.

CHAPTER I: Outline

The law is hard
but the law is the law.

Places. This section contains the visualization of the places that could appear in the story of this character.

The following explanation may be used for plot references.

The Apartment. This is the place when Max Spend most of his free time. His apartment located in the center of Seoul, a studio-sized apartment. Despite the small space of the apartment, Max managed to make it as spacious as possible.
The Kitchen counter just right on the entrance as the bathroom next to it. Max liked to keep everything simply and not too much stuff in his place.

The Institute. A sanctuary and residence for all shadowhunters in given city. Provides protection to Shadowhunters, and, in some cases, mundanes and Downworlders in need of their help.
It's a Seoul Institute because it's located in the middle of Seoul City. There are wardings—protective spells—up all over the borders. Mundies never find this place as they pass the borders, they'd simply find themselves transported instantly from one border to the next.
Vampires are the only beings who are completely incapable of stepping into the Institute because of the hallowed ground it is built upon; thus, they usually converse with its residents from the Sanctuary or through Projection.

The Pollen Cafe and Club place is located close to Max apartment. The Pollen Cafe opens from Monday to Thursday 7am until 4pm. It's a small Coffee kiosk with a cozy bright atmosphere, perfect to make yourself calm before starting the day.

On the other side, The Pollen Club opens every Friday and Saturday night. Starts from 5pm until 3am in the morning. The Pollen Club is an underground bar and club, it's located right under the coffee place. It's usually become the downworlders' playground as many of them hangout there, mixed themselves with mundies (ordinary human).

Creatures. This section contains the explanation about all the creatures that mentioned by the character or in the stories.

The following explanation may be used for relation and plot references.

Shadowhunter is a Human-Angel Hybrid. Also known as Nephilim, are a secretive race of beings who are humans born with angel blood. They have fought demons and lived alongside Downworlders in the Shadow World for well over a thousand years, creating their own culture and civilization within human society. Their mandate is to keep the peace in the Shadow World and keep it hidden from the mundane world while protecting the inhabitants of both worlds.

Despite their ancestry, Shadowhunters are mortal and therefore vulnerable to old age and death; however, their angelic blood endows them with special abilities that allow them to achieve feats beyond what's humanly possible through the application of angelic runes.

Angels are winged celestial beings who serve as messengers of God, guardians of his creations, and soldiers in his eternal war against the denizens of Hell.

Angel is the creator of Nephilim also known as Shadowhunter as if any mundane's blood got mixed with Angel blood in Mortal Cup, they'd be transformed as Shadowhunters.

Demons are malevolent, inter-dimensional beings that travel between worlds, destroying everything in their path. They return to their home dimension, the Void, when they die. Religiously, they are defined as Hell's denizens and the servants of Satan. Demons come in a large variety of species and forms, their numbers said to be infinite.

Faeries, also known as the Fair Folk or Fey, are an extremely cunning race of Downworlders. They are cunning beings of Angel or Demon Blood. They are actually the Fallen Angel as they were casted out of heaven for their pride.

Mundanes, also called mundies by some, are regular humans who are oblivious to the existence of Shadowhunters, Downworlders, demons, and the rest of the Shadow World. When Nephilim, demons or warlocks put up glamours, it is so that mundanes cannot see them; the mundanes see either something they would understand or nothing at all. These glamours can be put down willingly, though.

Werewolves, also known as Lycanthropesand, the Children of the Moon, are a species of Downworlders. They are enhanced by physical strength.

Vampires, also known as the Children of the Night, are a species of Downworlders. Along with werewolves, vampires are humans infected with a demon disease. However, unlike the former, vampires are considered "undead". They are enhanced with a predatorial nature. Have the ability to shapeshift.

Warlocks, also known as Lilith's (the greater demon) Children, are an immortal race of Downworlder offsprings of demons and mundanes. Possessed by magical abilities.
